Measuring Tech Savviness, and Tech Needs, in the Construction Industry

    Just how tech-friendly is the construction industry? It’s clear that contractors are increasingly relying on digital tools for their projects. But a new study by Dodge Data & Analytics reveals that only 34% of civil contractors in the US have adopted model-based technology, while 57% of those in the vertical building sector report using these tools. The adoption rate for field and project management tools is much higher: 61% among civil contractors, and 83% among vertical building contractors.

    The Dodge study is the first in a two-part series that benchmarks digital capabilities in civil construction. It looks at the critical drivers to increase the use of digital tools to improve project outcomes and provide business benefits for contractors using them.
